End of the (Campaign) Trail
A note from Rob Willard:
This is my last campaign update and I had to write you all one more time to say thanks.
I'm grateful to the voters of Platte County for entrusting me with the honor and privilege of being the next County Treasurer. The election was one of the closest in Platte County history and the margin is a testament to the depth of support and admiration my opponent enjoys in this community. I appreciate her well wishes and congratulations.
Life is quickly returning to normal at the Willard home in the week since the election. Audrey turned five months old this week and James is engaged in the great battle of the ages known as potty training. Jeri is immersed in back to school activities preparing to teach another year at Oak Park High School and I have a "to do" list of work and life activities that's been gathering dust for about six months.
All of this wouldn't have been possible without your friendship and support.
I want to make a special note of thanking my campaign manager Katherine Thompson. My campaign was the first she ever worked on and I told her how proud I was to be a footnote to future success. She may only be a junior in high school, but she has already established herself as an asset to our community.
Rounding out my campaign team was Devon Whitton and Sam Gaither. The heart and soul of a campaign isn't in speeches or signs or flyers but in the people who volunteer countless hours. Any success I enjoyed was due to them to knocking on doors, making phone calls and urging on their friends to do the same.
Most of all, I'm so very thankful for the love of my wife and children. No title I'll ever hold with come close to that of husband and dad. I can't even type these words without tears welling up in my eyes, so I better stop writing here.
There are many others I may have neglected to mention here, but please know how much I appreciate your help, support and most importantly faith.
It's the end of the (campaign) trail for me, but I urge you all to stay engaged and involved. There are many great candidates who will appear on the ballot this November who need your help. I'll be helping some of them after taking a little more time off.
Remember: The future is worth fighting for.
Goodbye, good luck and God bless you all.
